Seashore Stampers Blog Hop - July - Wedding Card

Hello talented fellow stampers, dedicated followers, and my beloved random lurkers,

Summer is wedding season - take cover! This year, I've been very involved in creating a bespoke wedding card for a client who found me online. She is on the other side of this wonderful, vast country and we literally don't speak the same language (as a first language), so it's been challenging, but in a good way. Her taste is quite different from mine and this has forced me to step outside my box. She wanted a lot of lace which meant ordering the Delicate Lace Edgelits #147053, expecting to use them for her card and not much else. Boy was I wrong! I fell in love with them. There is SO much to do with them. Depending on the the rest of your card, they can be made to look simple, modern, traditional, or seriously ornate. These fabulous dies are carefully hidden at the back of the catalogue on page 217, in the middle of the top row. Since they don't coordinate with a specific stamp set, they are easily looked over. Here is what they look like.

Normally I don't mention adhesives in my posts, but these dies work incredibly well with the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets, it's amazing - just peel and stick. No muss, no fuss. Alas, I cannot reveal the big wedding card, at least not yet. Spoilers! (Said in my best River Song voice.)

Okay, down to business. For my blog hop card, I simply had to use one of the amazing, Delicate Lace Edgelits. The stamp set I turned to was the ever versatile Host Set, Hand Delivered. This stamp set delivers for just about every occasion possible. What's fun about this card design, is you can substitute any colour for the Bermuda Bay I chose this colour for a few reasons. I have a lot of it on hand and need to make a dozen more identical cards for a swap. It has coordinating Blends (alcohol markers.) And well, it's so close to the colour of happiness*, I couldn't resist. (The truth comes out.)

Instructions: Cut a 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Bermuda Bay. Cut 2 @ 4" x 5 1/4" pieces of Whisper White. One is for the inside of the card. You will also need some scraps of the white for your stamping and about a 2" square scrap of Bermuda Bay. Take one of the 4" x 5 1/4 " white pieces and on the short end line up the Delicate Lace Edgelit on your BigShot. Be sure to use the Precision Base Plate. It is a life saver with these intricate dies. Move the die up to just shy of the top of the paper. Carefully centre it, the edges will hang over the paper.

Remove the die from the paper, using the Big Shot Die Brush . Use your Paper-Piercing Tool to remove any leftover pieces. Repeat the same process on the other short end. This is what you should have now.

Stamp a wedding cake, a congratulations and two of the two flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black.
Now for the fun part - colouring! There is no real right or wrong here. I chose to colour only the flowers and leaves. Next use your Paper Snips to fussy cut the cake and two sets of flowers.

Punch out the greeting using the Classic Label Punch. Using your Big Shot and the 1 5/8" die from the Layering Squares Framelits cut out a square from a scrap of Bermuda Bay

Cut two pieces, approximately 5" each,  from the 1/4" Bermuda Bay Mini Striped Ribbon. Seeking less white space, I elected to cover the stitched area of paper with my ribbon. I simply used "magic" cello tape, on the back of the lacy Whisper White Cardstock, to hold down each end. Do this at both lacy ends.

Finally, assembly begins! I used my Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the white lacy piece with the ribbons to the Bermuda Bay base. The Snail Adhesive was used to get the Bermuda Bay square onto the white lacy piece (at an angle, in a diamond shape.) Stampin' Dimensions raise the caked and greeting. The Multipurpose Liquid Glue was used to stick the smaller of the two flowers at each end of the greeting. I put one of the larger flowers on the inside and the other on the envelope. And voila, a super classy and distinctive wedding card.

Optional addition - I used Fine Tip Glue Pen on all the flowers because I love that raised shiny look. You could also use Wink of Stella. I do this at the very end as the glue takes a while to dry.

Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop - June - Something Red

Hello Fabulous Followers, Talented Stampers, and Random Lurkers,

With a new month comes a new host code, TGHQHXAY. Use this on your online orders under 200 to be entered into my fabulous monthly draw.*

Since Canada Day is almost upon us we've dedicated our blog hop to "something red." I am incredibly proud, and particularly grateful, to be Canadian. Like most other Canadians, my ancestry is a bit of a  patchwork quilt - some origins known, others not. My mother emigrated to Canada when she was in her late twenties. My father was born here, but his parents were not. Granddad was an orphan. One day I am going to spring for an ancestry test to fill in some of the blanks. Regardless of the results, I will always consider myself Canadian.

There are so many things to love about this incredible country. It's physical vastness is breathtaking. I've been blessed to climb in the Rockies, walk through prairie wheat fields, be mesmerized by the power of Niagara Falls, swim in the Pacific Ocean, and so much more. I've seen bears, moose, elk, beavers and eagles. I've listened to the haunting calls of the loon and whooping crane. I've been left sleepless by the delightful chatter of tiny frogs. I've explored the biggest cities and stayed in the smallest towns. I love Canada for it's inclusivity, it's diversity, and it's friendliness. Our politics aren't perfect but I am one of the privileged people on this planet who get to vote.

I have seen much of the world and fantasized about living abroad. I have envisioned myself in a flat near the Vienna Opera House. I have imagined living in Edinburgh, where my daughter went to university and where my mother grew up. I have even priced real estate in the Tuscan Hills. One day, I may have something somewhere. But it will be a place to visit. My heart lives here. This country, my Canada, is and always will be home.

This finished project is 8" x 8" and ready for framing. My base, the background pennants, and the maple leaf were made with Real Red Cardstock (#102482) The large letters and pennants were done in Whisper White (#100730). The greeting was stamped with the Real Red Classic Stampin' Pad (#147084). The wood-look is achieved with the incredibly versatile Wood Textures DSP Stack (#144177). The letters were cut out using the Large Letters Framelits (#141712) and the maple leaf is from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits (#143751). The Pick a Pennant is brand new and can currently be bought as a bundle (#148393). The beaver was fashioned using homemade eyes, teeth, the Fox Builder Punch (141470) and Early Espresso Cardstock (#119686) - because life it too short to be taken seriously. And in Canada, you always run the risk of being photobombed by a beaver!

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.

Happy Canada Day! Bonne Fête du Canada!

Cheers,
Adrienne

Seashore Stampers May Blog Hop

Hello Talented Stampers, Amazing Demonstrators, and my Fabulous Random Lurkers,

This month the Seashore Stampers are celebrating the men in our lives. Father's Day is next month so we thought we would focus on masculine or Father's Day cards.

I created this card using the incredibly versatile Wood Textures 6x6 DSP and the delightful Bubble Over stamp set & Bottles & Bubbles Framlit Dies, which have all, thankfully, carried over into the New Annual Catalogue. The "amazing you" is from the Celebrate You thinlits which were originally featured during Sale-A-Bration, and will continue to be made available in the new catalogue.

It's been 10 years since I've been able to celebrate Father's Day with my Dad. I still miss him each and every day. My Dad was amazing. He was a talented musician. He was cool before it was cool to be cool. He adored my mother. He believed in open communication. He worked for peace and equality. He was a kind and generous man. His birthday was this month too. So Dad, Have A Birthday Brew, Amazing You! Love you forever.

Until next time my friends. Hug the men your life. Let them know how much they mean to you.

Cheers,
Adrienne

Seashore Stampers March Bloghop - Easter

Hello incredible stampers, dedicated followers, and beloved lurkers,

This month, the fabulous Seashore Stampers are featuring Easter cards in our monthly blog hop. Regardless of one's beliefs, Easter can be an incredible time for new beginnings and renewal. For me, in that department, it means more than New Year's Eve.

Years ago, at work, we were trying to figure out why Easter fell on different dates. Someone suggested I call my Mum (lovingly referred to as, "the walking encyclopedia.") Without even missing a beat, she responded, "It's the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the vernal equinox." Every Easter I remember this with a smile.

In preparation for a class at my church, I created these 3 cards. Now trying to choose just one of these was akin to picking one's favourite child, which is why I only have one...child. So I decided to showcase all three cards.

For the first card, I used my fabulous new Stamparatus, which is perfect for three-step stamping. These stamps were from the Watercolor Wings and the Hold on to Hope sets. The greeting came from the incredibly versatile Teeny Tiny Wishes. The 2nd card uses the FREE* Celebrate You Thinlit Dies, from Sale-A-Bration, and the Cross of Hope Framelit Dies. The designer series paper is from the Delightful Daisy set. (This is a great card for beginners.) On the 3rd card I used the FREE* Springtime Foil Specialty Designer Series Paper, from Sale-A-Bration, colouring it with the Old Olive and Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blends. The gold foil cross is from the Cross of Hope Framelit Dies. Visit my shop here. Be sure to use the current host code ST3PTGGD.

Remember, Sale-A-Bration runs out March 31st at 11pm (pacific time.) This is the BEST time of the year to join my team, The Paper Shapers, and score all sorts of freebies!

If you have any questions, or need any more details, let me know.
