Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop - May

Hello all,

Welcome to the Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop. This month we're featuring Father's Day (or masculine) cards.

Even though my Dad passed away a few years ago, I enjoy making Father's Day cards and remembering my Dad. He was an amazing man and unlike many of the Dad's I knew. He wasn't into sports but loved making music. (We had an incredible variety of instruments in our home at any given time.) He decided corporal punishment wasn't appropriate and made us talk things out. As a teenager, that was not fun, but it made me a better person.

I am ridiculously embarrassed to admit where the actual inspiration for this card came from. Here's a hint, it is insanely popular right now and has sold millions of copies. If you think you know, message me and I'll let you know if you're right. Otherwise, it'll be a mystery.

The greetings for this card come from the Well Said Stamp Set and coordinating Well Written Dies. To create it,  I used Basic Gray Cardstock, (8 1/2" x 5 1/2") and embossed the front with the new Old World  Paper 3D Embossing Folder, from the World of Good Suite. (I don't have the suite yet but it is GORGEOUS!) The Silver Foil Sheet leaves also come from the Well Written dies. You'll need a 4 3/8" x 3 1/8" piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock and 4 1/4" x 3" piece of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. This DSP is my absolute favourite from the new catalogue. It is incredibly versatile, featuring photographic images of wood grains, tile patterns, etc. In fact, I love one of the tile patterns so much, I briefly contemplated ordering a bunch more and redoing my kitchen back splash for cheap. (He said no.)

Use the Layering Oval Dies in the centre of the DSP and then cut the fish out of the oval. The fish body is made with the Layering Circle Dies and for fishes tail I used the Tulip Builder Punch. After punching out the first piece, be sure to turn the DSP over to punch out the second piece. The eye was made with a standard hole punch. I coloured it with our black Stampin' Write Marker. I assembled it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

For easy assembly, when you cut out your foil leaves and greeting, use our new Adhesive Sheets on the back of the foil. It is brilliant. No more wet glue messes - woo hoo! Peal the backing off the leaves and attach it onto the centre of the Bashful Blue piece. Next, using your liquid glue, attach the DSP rectangle on top of the Bashful Blue. With Stampin' Dimensionals, attach the fish into the centre, over the silver leaves. Attach this piece to your card front with your liquid glue.

Stamp your greeting, in Bashful Blue Classic Stampin' Pad, on a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Use Clear Stampin' Embossing Powder on top of this to make it stand out. I punched out the greeting with the Classic Label Punch. The Basic Pearl Jewels were coloured with the darker of the two Bashful Blue Stampin' Blends Combo Pack. Attach the greeting to the card face with your Dimensionals and apply the coloured pearls. If you need any more help, please ask.

Thinking of You

Hello and welcome back to my blog,

This card was created for a member of the crew of the HMCS Fredericton, which experienced a tragic accident last week. I live in a town with a Naval Base. These amazing people help weave the fabric of our community and it's hard to seem them hurting.

To create this card I used uses the Rooted in Nature and Good Morning Magnolia stamp sets.

Start with a Whisper White Cardstock base, measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in the middle at 4 1/4".  From your white, you'll also need a 2" x 5 1/4" piece, a 2 1/2" square (for the greeting) and a scrap (large enough for the flower.) Trim your Basic Black Cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4", 2 1/8" x 5 1/2" and a 2 3/4" square (for the black circle behind the greeting.)

For the one leaf that overlaps, I used the fabulous Stamperatus to line it up. Use your Embossing Buddy on the right hand side of the large black rectangle. Stamp your leaves with Versa Mark. Heat emboss with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Repeat the process on the 2" x 5 1/4" piece of white. This time, heat emboss with Black Stampin' Emboss Powder. Do your greeting on the white square and heat emboss with black. On your scrap of white, stamp and heat emboss the flower bud in black. I used Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends to colour the flower.

The greeting was cut out with the Layering Circle Dies. From your little black square, use the Stitched Shapes Dies and cut out the circle. With the Magnolia Memory Dies, cut out the bloom.

For assembly I use the Multipurpose Liquid Glue because it gives you that moment to adjust. Attach the black piece with the white embossed leaves onto the front of the card base. Then attach the white piece, with the black embossed leaves, to the the white smaller rectangle of black. Make sure the right hand side is flush and has no margin. Attach this piece to the left had side. I also used liquid glue to attach the flower bud. Stampin' Dimensionals were used under the greeting.

So Grateful

Hello Wonderful People,

Welcome back! This week's card was inspired by a friend who does so much for others. I am very grateful to so many people in my life and feel now is the time to say so, with a card.

Like last week, most of what I used in this card came from the fabulous new Ornate Garden Suite and I've highlighted them in green.

Start with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Whisper White Cardstock base, scored at 4 1/4". Trim a piece of Bermuda Bay Cardstock to 3 3/4" x 5". You'll also need some Silver Foil (big enough to die cut 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"), Whisper White (approx 3 1/2" x 4 1/2") for the image and a strip of Vellum (approx 1 1/4" x 4 1/4".)

Using the Rectangle Stitched Dies (the 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" one), cut out your Silver Foil. With the rectangular die from the Ornate Style Bundle, cut out the Vellum Strip. Run your Bermuda Bay through your  Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

Prepare your Whisper White and Vellum rectangle with your Embossing Buddy (which is retiring), Stamp your large floral image, from the Ornate Thanks, on the Whisper White and you greeting, from the Ornate Style Bundle on the vellum with Versa Mark. Heat emboss both with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder. Tip: Remember to stop as soon as it turns shiny.

Colour your flowers with your Stampin' Blends. I used Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight,  Granny Apple Green and Pool Party. And now for the fun, fussy cut the flower.

With your Multipurpose Liquid Glue, attach the embossed Bermuda Bay to the card front, and the silver foil to the Bermuda Bay. I used the liquid glue to attach the flowers but you could also use Dimensionals. To attach the greeting, use the Mini Glue Dots. Tip: Place them behind the letters so they don't show.

Early this morning, the pre-order opened and I ordered my new Annual Catalogues (along with some other AMAZING new products.) Those of you on my mailing list, who let me know last month, will be receiving your copy in the mail. If you want me to save one for you, please message me. They are available for pick up for no charge.
