Seashore Stampers May Blog Hop

Hello Wonderful Stampers and Random Followers,

Father's Day is the time to celebrate the Dads in our life. My Dad was a very cool man. He was smart and sensitive. He had a crazy wicked sense of humour. He was a paradox, being an incredible and engaging public speaker and at the same time, a deep introvert who loved nothing more than being alone in his studio, with his musical instruments. He wasn't afraid to try new things or step out on a limb. He taught me so much. From him, I learned an appreciation of music. He showed me how to strive for and appreciate equanimity. He ensured I knew I was valued and loved. He taught me not to judge others harshly and to treat everyone equally. From him, I gained my sense of compassion. And, of course, he taught me how to drive.

If he were alive, I would want to thank him for all he did to help me become the person I have become. Thinking of him today, I was inspired to create this Thank You card for Father's Day, in his honour. In the crate, I have little tags. Each one lists something I am thankful for that involved my Dad. They range from silly little things to the really big ones - sometimes the silly little things are the really big ones too. Although he will never see this, I hope he can feel my gratitude that may not have been properly expressed at the time.

To create this card, I used the new Wood Worlds stamp set (I keep wanting to say Woodward's, a department store from my childhood) and the new Wood Crate Framelits. The idea of putting part of the crate on the card base comes from our new catalogue. I will be offering a class on this card two times before Father's Day, you can register at my open house or by contact me.

Happy Father's Day to my dear Dad in heaven, to my brothers, and to my guyfriends. You are all incredible role models and do the job of fathering so very well. I love you guys!

Addendum to the Incredible Garage Sale

Sadly, I could not find my beautiful "Tempting Turquoise" tablecloth. The best I could do is "Whisper White" with large multicoloured polka dots which, thankfully, include "Tempting Turquoise." Whew.

Hopefully you will still be able to find my table. Hopefully I will be awake. (It's 2:00 am here and I have to be up and at 'em in just a few more hours.) It's so frustrating when much need sleep evades us.

If I can't fall back asleep soon, I'll also have some Mum's Day cards for sale. 😉

See you soon.

Cheers,
Adrienne

Incredible Garage Sale

Hello Wonderful Procraftinators and Card Makers!

This Saturday, May 14th, I will be participating in my church's garage sale. In addition to the usual garage sale fare, this one will provide you with the opportunity to score some of Stampin' Ups incredible product at amazing prices.

All you need to do is find my table, which I trust won't be too hard. It will have a table cloth in the colour of happiness...also known as "Tempting Turquoise." I will have a TON (not quite literally) of retired Stampin' Up stuff for sale - much of it BRAND NEW! My massive table will also have other crafting and household items for sale, along with sign up sheets for my upcoming open house parties.

Come visit me at St Joseph the Worker, 753 Burnside Road West, in glorious Victoria, BC. Head down the driveway around back, to where the church hall is located. I will be there from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. Cash only please.

See you then.

Cheers,
Adrienne

Seashore Stampers Blog Hop

This month's Seashore Stampers Bloghop is dedicated to Mother's Day, a time where we celebrate our mothers and the mother figures in our lives.

If you are like me, and have lost your mother, it is still a time we can honour and remember them.

My Mum was an incredible woman. She was wicked smart and way ahead of her time. (You should have seen some of the food she fed us, all in the name of eating right.) Mum was a brilliant and successful author, who somehow still managed to raise four children, while being very active in both the community and church. And, funnily enough, when I became a Mum, she was forever chastising me for doing too much. Hmm.

My feeling is, for the most part, women are often doing too much and not making enough time for themselves. Despite a very full dance card, finding even small spaces of downtime can make the world of difference. For me, creative time gives me a chance to recharge. After a class, I once had a client tell me, "This is better than a massage." While I can't make that guarantee you will feel the same way, I will do my best help you carve out a relaxing and enjoyable creative space.

For the Mother's Day blog hop, I designed and made an all-occasion type card to share with my girlfriends, who are not only Mother's but who do so much in their communities.

Happy Mother's Day to my beloved Mum in heaven, to my sister, sister-in-law, niece, and my precious girlfriends. And last but not least, thank you to my incredible daughter for making me a mother. I love you all so very much.

To create this card, I used the Beautiful You stamp set and the Layering Ovals Framelits. I like the simplicity and ease of the card. I added the "photo corners" for a bit of wow factor. They were made by cutting the 4 triangles and adding a skinny strip of the contrasting cardstock. If you have any questions, let me know.

Cheers & Blessings,
Adrienne

SEASHORE STAMPERS BLOG HOP

One day, in a land far, far away, my blog will be ready to go more than a few minutes before its deadline. When it comes to blogging regularly, I am an epic failure...all that keeps me going is the blog hop deadline. Since other members of the "hop" are counting on you, you have to actually have it done on time or their blogs may suffer. *sigh* No pressure.

Tonight I was at a 50th birthday bash for our parish priest, a party helped I set-up, decorate and cook for. I also have spent the past month moving. I also have the latest and greatest cold/flu thing going around and spent the week curled up in a ball of germs. So many great excuses. And then there is my personal favourite...I just spent the past 2 hours watching a pretty bad Hallmark movie. You know the kind, where it's supposed to be California but it's so clearly (greyly, actually) the west coast. Now, with only minutes to spare, I am frantically banging away at my keyboard.

Procrastination, now there is a subject I know a LOT about. Heck, I'm probably over qualified to do a blog on it. But that's not why we're here. It's the SEASHORE STAMPERS monthly blog hop. This month we're supposed to talk about something decorative for the wall. Envision me frantically running around looking at the barren walls of my new home, and 90% of my Stampin' Up supplies are still in boxes. Yikes! What's a girl to do? Cue the Christmas music.

Meet a Christmas gift I made for my boyfriend at a class, given by my fellow Seashore Stamper, the incredibly talented, Sabrina. I fell in love with the colour combination of Marina Mist and Pear Pizzaz. My plan is to update it seasonally. I was hoping to do one for Chinese New Years and Valentine's but alas, our move has taken MUCH longer than anticipated. (Combining two full households is not for the faint of heart.)

Remember it's still SALE-A-BRATION. For every 60 you spend, you get to choose an item from the SAB catty for FREE!!!

Until next time my friends. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Cheers,
Adrienne
