Stamping-with-Friends - March Blog Hop

 Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the Stamping-with-Friends Blog Hop!

This month we feature all things, March. I chose to celebrate "Take a Walk in the Park Day," which happens on March 30th. All of us have had a crazy year! Many have faced curfews and lock downs. Spring is finally upon us and what better time to dust off those walking shoes and get walking, in a park (whilst following local health guidelines.)

Here, on Vancouver Island, we're now able to access parks relatively freely. I am blessed to be surrounded by them, several within walking distance. There is something so incredibly grounding about a walk in nature. So on March 30th, find a park, a little patch of green and take a walk.

The parks that surround me were my inspiration for this card.

I used the Rooted in Nature, Snow Front and High Tide Stamp Sets. The stunning watercolour background, which I slaved over (or not), is a actually piece of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper. The sun is a piece of the same paper. The card base is from Seaside Spray Cardstock. The background trees were stamped in my Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' Pad and the birds were done with my Basic Grey Classic Stampin' Pad. The die cut tree was coloured with Shaded Spruce and Early Espresso Stampin' Write Markers. The tree was attached with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Since I love this card so much, I decided not to put on a sentiment. Also, I don't think we actually have a "Take a Walk in the Park Day" stamp. 😁

May be an image of flower and text that says 'Net Nex'

Seashore Stampers - March Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back  to the Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop! This month we're sharing our creations for Easter.

I designed this fun, very textured card last night.

It was made with the Wildly Happy Stamp Set on Petal Pink Cardstock, chosen not only because is it a lovely Easterish colour, I had an excess of this ribbon. Yup, I created this card around the need to use up some ribbon! (You never know where inspiration will come from.) The embossing folder used was the Ornate Floral 3D. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Stamp your bunnies in Black Memento Ink and punch it out with our 2" Circle Punch. Colour them lightly with your Petal Pink Blends - I just did their noses, ear insides and along the bottom. Using the Adhesive Sheets under a piece of Basic White Cardstock, with the Well Written Dies, cut out the word, "happy." Use the flourish from the same set on Vellum x 3. The Stitched Shapes circle was used on Petal Pink. The greeting, stamped in Memento Ink, is from Timeless Tulips.

I am sad to say this adorable animal stamp set, the dies and the punch, I used for this card will all be retiring on May 3rd. If you are interested in them, or anything else, my shop is HERE. Just 4 more days left of my FREE shipping. To take advantage of this special, your order needs to be place directly through me.

Butterfly Gala Simple Stamping

 Hello all,

Welcome back to my blog. This week's card was created for a #simplestamping challenge. We could only use stamps, inks, paper and DSP (Designer Series Paper). No punches, ribbons, embellishments and definitely no turning to my beloved Cut & Emboss Machine.

I used the Butterfly Gala stamp set and, using Memento Ink, stamped directly onto the Dandy Garden DSP.  Using the same DSP but a different pattern, I put a 1/2" x 5" strip to add visual interest. The card base is Bumblebee Cardstock.

This stamp actually has two butterflies on it. Since the Memento Ink pad is small and due to the shape of the stamp. it's really easy to just apply ink to the large butterfly. Stamp the pad onto the stamp rather than the stamp onto the pad. Just angle it to avoid the small butterfly.

When you're just starting out your supplies are often limited. The #simplestamping challenge is there to help encourage beginners and give them examples of how easy it can be.

Less than 5 sleeps until I get to see the new Annual Catalogue! Message me if there is anything you've been pining over.

Quilting, minus the sewing

Hello wonderful creators,

This week we're going to feature a "quilt" card.

Start with a coloured base, I used Poppy Parade Cardstock, of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". You'll need a piece of Basic White Cardstock or Vanilla measuring 4" x 5 14". In my sample I only use two different patterns of 1 1/4" Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper squares but you could certainly use more and experiment with smaller sizes. Depending on how particular you are and on your pattern, you may want to lay out the pieces first to get an idea of what you want where.

Tip: Use our grid paper and a ruler to help line things up. If this is the first time you're making this card, the easiest way to start it to put your first square in the top left hand corner of your white/vanilla piece. Have it overhang the top or side by about 1/2". (On mine, the I had an over hang on both sides but it's a little trickier to line things up this way. Glue it with our Multipurpose Liquid glue. Put your second piece diagonally below it - but don't glue it. Use your grid makes and rule to make sure that piece is straight. Before glue it down, put down your second square diagonally above it. (In my example they're green plaid.) Glue down that square, then glue down your place marker square diagonally below. Work your way down the rows until you've filled the page. You will have pieces overhanging on at least 3 sides. Let the glue dry and trim the edges with your Paper Snips.

Choose an embossing folder and run your quilt through your Cut & Emboss Machine. I used the new Painted Texture Embossing Folder.

The rest is decoration. I used an old ribbon (from the Coming Home Suite - Holiday Catalogue.) My greeting, along with the ovals, come from the Punch Party Bundle. Using the Small Bloom Punch, I added a few Vellum flowers. And of course, I had to add a little bling, in the form of  Gilded Gems.

Belly Band Card with Gift Card Holder

Hello all,

Welcome back to my blog. This card was created for a 13 year old's birthday. Since they only want cold hard cash, I made it with a built-in gift card holder.

Start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock, for your base. Score at the 2 3/4" mark on each end (in landscape). Trim 4 pieces of Blackberry Bliss cardstock to 2 1/2" x 4" and one to 4" x 5 1/4". Cut 2 pieces of the same Whale of a Time DSP to 2 3/8" x 3 7/8" (for the outside) and repeat the process with a different patter of DSP from the same suite (for the inside). You'll also need a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of Basic White Cardstock for the inside, where you'll write your message.

Attach the DSP and the white to the Blackberry Bliss backgrounds. Since it allows a moment for straightening, I prefer to use our Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Optional: on one of my DSP scraps I noticed this ridiculously adorable wee turtle and two fish. I punched it out and put it on the white. So cute!

Glue on the 2 front DSP pieces to each outside flap. Next attach the Basic White piece to the inside centre. If you're making a gift card holder, using your 1 1/2" Circle Punch, punch the inside edge of one of the DSP pieces going on the inside of the card. Only go in about 1/2" to create a notch. (When I saw "inside edge" I'm referring to the side that will be next to the white piece.)

Your Silicone Mat will be your best friend for this part. Lay a gift card or credit card over wrong side of the piece you punched the notch from. With your Stampin' Seal+, leaving a little margin, go out the 3 sides that weren't notched. It's okay for the seal to go onto the mat. Once you've done all 3 edges, pick it up. Hold each sdie against the mat and fold it down (towards the mat). This should cause the Stampin' Seal + to fold inwards and stick to itself. Worse case scenario (or if you don't have a mat), you can fold it back with clean fingers. Attach it to the inside of the card.

Attach the remaining DSP piece to the other side of the card.

Since I didn't want to cover up this gorgeous DSP, I made a Vellum belly band. I went with 7/8" (3/4" seemed to narrow and 1" seemed to wide...lol) Vellum is unforgiving, so make sure you have in lined up properly before you fold it around the card. It needs to be tight enough to stay up and loose enough to be removed. Alternatively, if you want to score it, do that at 2 3/4" less 1/16" on each side. It must be done very lightly or it'll tear through (which is what I did the first time.)

With your Stitched Shapes Dies, cut out the oval from a scrap of Balmy Blue Cardstock. I used the Layering Ovals on a piece of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock for the next smallest layer.

From the Punch Party Bundle stamp your greeting, in your Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Pad and punch it out with the regular oval. (Confession: I couldn't find my ink pad, so I used my Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Write Marker instead. This 2 in one punch is must have - you get a great sized oval for greetings and the a slightly larger scallop for the background piece.

Using Mini Glue Dots on the outside edge of the back of the blue oval, attach it to the vellum strip. Tip: the easiest way of ensuring it's straight is to fold up the scored edges of the vellum and place the oval on top. (Don't push the edges of the vellum together, there should be a little gap.)

The seaweed die comes from the Smooth Sailing Dies. I cut out one and half (from vellum). They were attached to the blue oval with the glue dots. Tip: Do this while the belly band is around the card so you can see the placement.

Attach the greeting the the Blackberry Bliss background and then, with Stampin' Dimensionals, attach it to the blue oval. And you're done. NOPE! False alarm. We need some bling. Stick on a couple clear Rhinestones Basic Jewels.

(I also put a scrap of DSP on the envelope. Decorated envelopes just kick things up a notch.)
