Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop - February

Hello and Welcome to the Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop!

It almost the end of February. We've celebrated Valentine's Day, Family Day and for some of us Lunar New Year. What's next? St Patrick's Day and all things green.

Now for many people, St Patrick's Day is a time of wild celebrating with friends. In most parts of the world that's currently not a thing. Where I am, we are only supposed to be in close proximity of the people we live with. So beyond yet another Zoom, how else can we celebrate? You could send a card and include some green, write a limerick or mention some fun St P's Day facts. Did you know St Patrick was actually born in Britain? Or that the shamrock (seamroy) is considered a sacred plant that signifies spring? Whatever you decide to do, stay safe.

In our home we've celebrated St P's Day every year. When my daughter lived on the other side of the country, for university, I even sent her a boxes full of green things (decorations, food, etc.) But one of the most memorable years was when she was quite little. In addition to leaving gold chocolate coins everywhere, I "vandalized" our kitchen with green silly string. She was probably only 6 or 7 but instead of finding it funny, she was horrified the leprechauns would do such a thing to our home. I felt like a crummy mummy. I can laugh now but at the time not so much. This year it will be a card, with some green and of course, chocolate coins. No silly string. Ever.

This was a super easy card to make. Start with a Basic White Cardstock base of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". Trim another piece of white to 3 3/4" x 5" and run it through your favourite embossing folder. I used the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. With the Small Bloom Punch, I punched out 3 of each shade of green, Soft Seafoam, Pear Pizazz, Old Olive, Garden Green and Shaded Spruce cardstocks. (This is a great way to use up scraps.)

I attached the flowers to the embossed piece with Mini Glue Dots. Tip: Start with the two bottom or top outside ones first, then add the middle one. Once you've done the top and bottom horizontal rows, put down the next two horizontal rows WITHOUT adhesive, just to line them up. Then attach the middle row. Save the second from the top & bottom rows for last. Use your Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the embossed piece to the card front.

Stamp your greeting on a scrap of white. I used "Have a Lucky Day" from Itty Bitty Greetings in my Just Jade Classic Stampin' Pad (because I couldn't find my Shaded Spruce...lol) and cut it out with one of the Smooth Sailing Dies. Finally, for some bling, I added two of the small Gilded Gems.
