Love You to the Beach

Hello all,

Welcome back to my blog. In keeping with last week's entry and the fact that Valentine's Day is almost upon us, here is another romantic card.

This card was recently created for one of my classes and I simply love the monochromatic look. I used the beautiful Sand & Sea Suite. From the suite, the specific items I used were: the Friends are like Seashells Bundle; the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder; the Opal Rounds; and the Sand & Sea DSP.

Start with a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Basic White Cardstock card base, scored in landscape at 4 /14". From your white, you'll also need 2 7/8" x 4 1/8", 1 3/4" x 3" and some scraps for the shells, etc. Trim a piece of the DSP to 4" x 5 1/4" and a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock to 2 3/4" x 4".

Stamp your greeting onto the small white rectangle, and a collection of shells, sea stars and a sand dollar onto your scraps. (The little heart under the greeting comes from Whale Done stamp set.) Use your Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad.

With your Cut & Emboss Machine, emboss the Blushing Bride piece of cardstock with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. Switch your plates, and cut out all the shells, etc.

Assembly is easy. Using your Multipurpose Liquid Glue, attach the Blushing Bride piece to the larger white rectangle. Next attach your greeting to the centre of the Blushing Bride. Attach the DSP to the front of the card base. Then attach the piece with the greeting to the centre of the DSP. Now for the fun. Decide how you want to arrange the shells, etc at the bottom. I chose to glue down the shells and the sand dollar and used Mini Stampin' Dimensionals for the two sea stars. Finally, add a little bling in the form of the Opal Rounds. And there you have it!

Seashore Stampers January Blog Hop

Hello Fabulous Paper Crafters,

Welcome to the Seashore Stampers Monthly Blog Hop. This month, probably not surprisingly, we're celebrating all things Valentine's.

How my card came to be is a story of improvisation. Initially, I created a completely different design. When I couldn't find my Heartfelt Stamp Set (forgetting I'd put it in my new cabinet, with a project I needed to finish) I scoured my stamp sets for a romantic Valentinesy-ish greeting. I stumbled upon this one from Dandelion Wishes. I think it's absolutely adorable, even on its own, without any dandelions surrounding it. Okay, scratch that - I added the dandelion fluffs. Recently I ordered the gorgeous Love You Always Specialty Foils, from our new Mini Catalogue, so I needed to them. Then I decided I wanted a slimline card instead. While I was assembling it, I decided I like it better in portrait rather than landscape. And that, 4 changes later, is how this card came to be.

I started with an 8 1/2" x 8" piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock, scored on the 8" side at 4". The next layer is Rococo Rose Cardstock, measuring 3 3/4" x 8 1/4". I then cut the Blushing Bride Cardstock layer at 3 5/8" x 8 1/8". Trim a 10" piece of Blushing Bride 3/8" Metallic Ribbon. One of the cool features of this ribbon is that it's reversible. From each colour of the foil, use the regular heart punch to punch out one heart. (These are from the Heart Punch Pack or the Heartfelt Bundle.) Use the scalloped heart to punch out 3 hearts from Basic White Cardstock.

Stamp the greeting, "I made a Wish and You Came True" in your Rococo Rose Classic Stampin' Pad on a piece of Basic White Cardstock. Using your Cut & Emboss Mini or full size, with the Stitched Rectangle Dies, cut out the greeting. With your Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad, stamp the dandelion fluffs all over the Blushing Bride. (Tip: Do this over a piece of scrap paper so you can go off the edges.)

For assembly, with your Multipurpose Liquid Glue, attach the Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose Layers to each other. I love this glue for layers because you have a moment to realign them if need be. Wrap the ribbon around this piece, about 1/4" from one of the long sides and attach it to the back with Stampin' Seal. (Tip: Put the Stampin' Seal on the cardstock, not the ribbon. Press the ribbon onto the paper.) Attach each foil heart to a white scalloped heart. (Tip: While I'm a huge fan of our Multipurpose Liquid Glue, but recommend our Stampin' Seal for foils as the glue can show through.) Attach the greeting first, then the hearts, with Stampin' Dimensionals, to the card. I decided I loved this card as it is and chose not to add any other embellishments.

Sale-A-Bration continues until the end of February. The FREE items are flying off the shelves! Since they're while supplies last, order now. My shop is here. Quick and Easy Fun Fold

Hello all,

Happy Saturday! It's been a busy day. In the morning I took my daughter out for driving practice and had a client come by to pick up an order. This afternoon was spent hanging, virtually, with 8 demonstrator friends. We get together once a month to make cards, share ideas and visit.

Join my team to become part of this and many other amazing groups. When you join during Sale-A-Bration, in addition to choosing $165 worth of product for only $135 (with NO shipping and NO tax) you'll get FIVE packages of their newest Designer Series Paper for FREE. Message me with any questions.

Meet one of the cards we made, a Bendy Fold. I've made this style of card before but only at Christmas. Thanks to Erica, for demonstrating this card.

For your supplies you'll need one colour of cardstock, I used Misty Moonlight Cardstock. Trim a piece to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (this is actually your card base.) You'll also need a strip for along the front. This measures 1 1/4"  x 6 1/2", score at 1/2" on each short end. The centre piece is 2" x 4 1/2". While in landscape, score at 1/2", 2 1/4" & 4.

From your collection of Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper, cut one piece to 4" x 5 1/4" and 1" x 5 1/4". Cut a different pattern for the middle measuring, 1 3/4" x  3 1/4".

You'll also need a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White for your message and some scraps to stamp your greeting/images.

Attach your large rectangle of DSP to the card base. In landscape, score at 2 3/4". Turn it over at score at 2 3/4" again. Without actually folding it, flex the card back and forth to give it a bit of curve. You can adhere the Basic White piece to the back now.

Next attach the long strip of DSP to the long strip of cardstock, in the centre. Fold back the tabs Using our Multipurpose Liquid Glue, apply glue to the 1/2 tabs. Attach these tabs to the sides of the card base at the bottom. Hold the card upright on your table. Gently push the strip down to ensure it's lined up with the bottom of the card.

Attach the remaining piece of DSP and coloured cardstock to each other. Fold back the tabs and apply liquid glue. Put this in the centre of the card front against bottom strip. Make sure it doesn't slide under the strip or the card won't work.

Stamp your greeting and images. I used the Dragonfly Garden bundle with the Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad. Attach them to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. I added one little embellishment from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots. Can you guess what happened next? Wink of Stella, of course! (On the wings.)

Remember, Sale-A-Bration continues until the end of February. The FREE items are flying off the shelves! Since they're while supplies last, order now. My shop is here. For every 60/purchase before s/h & tax, you get to select a FREE item from the SAB catalogue. If your order is under 200, be sure to use this month's host code. Mini Cut & Emboss Machine Plate Holder

Hello wonderful papercrafters,

You know that expression, "necessity is the mother of invention." This week and had two "necessities" and came up with this Mini Plate holder.

How did this come to be? First, I got my fabulous new Mini Cut & Emboss Machine - woo hoo! It's amazing and SO convenient. But when it comes to storage, the little plates were all over the place. Then I had a design challenge, with a deadline, to create a project using something from the new Mini or Sale-A-Bration (SAB) catalogues.

The Paper Blooms DSP is one of my favourites of all time. I love the colours and the clean design. However, I hadn't ordered the coordinating stamp set & dies yet. (There is a mistake it the SAB Catalogue, the correct coordinating set is the In Bloom Bundle is on page 45 of the January to June Mini.) And my idea was born. Funnily enough my In Bloom Bundle arrived the next day! (As a sidebar, I have to tell you these dies are one of the most stunning Stampin' Up! has ever created.)

During SAB, which runs until the end of February, you can order this bundle and get the DSP (or another SAB item) for FREE! This year SAB items are while supplies last. There will be no second runs.

Start with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of Night of Navy Cardstock. You'll also need two 8 1/2" x 1 1/4" pieces to create the feet (without these, it tipped), a 3" x 2" for the back and a 2" x 2" for the front. I made the front a little lower so it doesn't get clipped every time you slide the plates in or out. (One of my designs didn't have a front at all but it wasn't quite stable enough.) From the Paper Blooms DSP, cut two 8 1/4" x 2 1/4", a 2 1/4" x 3/4" and 1 1/4" x 3/4".

In landscape, score your 8 1/2" x 11", at 2 1/2" & 5" on each end. I did it this way to ensure symmetry. Next, in portrait, score your two 8 1/2" x 1 1/4" pieces at 1/2". Your back piece, 3" x 2", needs to be  at 1/2" on the two long sides and one short side. (The photos of the back piece are actually wrong until the end.) The front, 2" x 2", will be scored at 1/2" on 3 sides. With your Bone Folder, burnish all your score lines.

So, other than the back piece, which I intentionally put my watermark over, your pieces should look like this:

Next, as with most 3D creations, you snip off the corners of the 1/2" tabs as illustrated. The shaded parts are where you cut.

Using the Stampin' Seal+ or the Tear & Tape, you're ready for assembly. First, attach the feet. The adhesive goes on the inside 1/2" strip of the 8 1/2" x 1 1/4" pieces. By inside, I mean if you're looking at the piece, scored in the shape of an "L", it's going on the inside of the short side of the "L." Do this for each foot. (The area to apply the adhesive is highlighted in pink.)

Turn the project over so the good side is down and the seams of the feet are facing you. If able, fold the foot of one side under. Apply adhesive to the 3 outside edges of that scored section, as illustrated. While trying to get as close to the edge as possible, be careful not to get any adhesive on the feet (this is why I folded it under. With your project flat and keeping the foot folded back, fold the adhesive side over to attach it. Repeat this for the other side.

Apply the adhesive to the tabs of the front and back pieces. Here you want the adhesive close to the fold or score line. Tip: When doing small pieces like this, and using our Stampin' Seal+, use the Silicone Mat. Then lift your pieces up and simply fold any adhesive that went over the edge back onto the tabs.

Since your back piece lines up with the sides, do it first. If you can, fold your project flat and line up one side. Once it's attached, roll up the other side of your project. Gently push down the bottom tab and then the side tab. Your back should now be attached.

Since the project can no longer fold close to flat, the front tab is a little trickier. While holding the sides, I attached the bottom of the front piece, one side and then the other.

You creation should now look something like this. Mine, for the purpose of this blog, was done with a piece of thin copy paper and would certainly not stand up to holding the plates...lol.

To complete the project, attach your DSP. I used our Multipurpose Liquid Glue. And finally, tie a piece of our lovely 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon around it.

Feel free to message me with any questions.

Cheers,

Adrienne

Happy New Year and Welcome Back

Welcome back!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year! I'm back from my time off and ready to party...but by only with my immediate household, for now.

For Christmas, instead of my brother's family, my family and a collection of orphans, our celebration was limited to our family of four. We still had turkey with all the trimmings and I did my usual Christmas baking. We exchanged gifts with friends and family - in drop and dash or masked situations. So in many ways, we were able to keep a lot of our traditions. I really missed midnight mass and spending the time with my people. But everything was a bit calmer and, in a way, less stressful.

I made this sampler for a presentation to illustrate the features and benefits of the Trimming the Town Suite (which includes the Coming Home stamp set.) Sadly this set will not be returning next year. If you want it, order it by January 4th.

Since I used a variety of different stamp sets and dies, I will only be providing the basic measurements for the sampler and skip the details for each square. If you have any questions on what I used, just message me.

Start your sampler with a 12" x 12" of Whisper White Cardstock. Your centre  background is a 4 3/4" square, the 2nd coloured layer is 4 1/2" and the white piece is 4 1/4". For the little squares, you'll need 12 of each. I recommend making a couple extra white pieces in case you need them. The background pieces are 2 1/2" squares, the 2nd coloured layer is 2 1/4" with the white pieces are 2". I used the Layering Squares Dies

For assembly, the Multipurpose Liquid Glue is your friend. It gives you that moment to readjust if things aren't quite straight. Start with the large centre square. It should be 3 5/8" from each side. If you like, you can make marks lightly with a pencil and erase them later. The small squares are 7/8" away from the outside edges. I did the 4 corner ones first.

Stamp and create your images on all the white squares. I usually start with the large one and design the rest around that. Attach your white squares to the 2nd colour. Finally attach these pieces to the background pieces. To add dimension, I used our Dimensionals. They are a little less forgiving the liquid glue, but can be readjusted or replaced with our Take Your Pick tool (the mini spatula piece.)

As a reminder, our lovely Holiday/Christmas Catalogue expires January 4th. The good news is there is a delightful Mini Catalogue which starts January 5th...also the day Sale-A-Bration starts. For every 60 purchase, you get to choose an item for free from the special Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

For all your paper crafting needs, my store is here. My current Host Code can be found to the right, under the image of the catalogue. Please be sure to use it on all orders under 200. If your order is around to 100 mark, join! You'll get to choose 165 worth of product for only 135 and during Sale-A-Bration, you get a special gift. Feel free to message me if you would like more info.

See you next Saturday.

Cheers,

Adrienne
