Birthday Cake

Hello all,

Welcome to my Wednesday Blog... a few hours late. This week I have been getting ready for a fabulous get together of Vancouver Island Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. There will be 51 of us attending. And me being me, I signed up for everything: the birthday swap (20 people); the Valentine's swap (11 people); the 3D swap (10 people) and a Make & Take (51 people). *gasp* That's right, 51 make & take kits. But it's all SO much fun.

This week I'm going to show you my birthday swap. Meet my Birthday Cake card.

Start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock. In landscape position, score at 4 1/2" on one side. This is kind of hard to explain but at the other end, score at 1" but only in 1".  Repeat this again, on the other side. Now you'll have two 1" score marks at that end. Turn the cardstock over at score 1" up from the original 1" score. So you're scoring at the 2" mark. Again, go in only 1" and repeat on the other side. Using the new Paper Trimmer, line up at cutting blade at the 4 1/2" score line. Cut in 1" from each side to the 1" score line, 1" from the end of the card.

Next, score across the centre panel/tab of the card, 1" from the 4 1/2" score. (The 1" edge, on each side, should not be scored, on the centre bit.)

Gently lift the centre tab up and away from the rest of the card. Moving down the tab, towards the bottom, fold the first two 1" score lines back/down and the next two 1" score lines forward/up.  Again, this is a bit challenging to explain. Hopefully the photos will help.

Fold the card down, completely flat and burnish the score lines.

Cut some Whisper White Cardstock to 4 1/8" x 7/8" and 3 3/4" x 3". Trim two pieces of the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper to 4 1/2" - 1/8" and 1" - 1/8" .

Using your Stamparatus, stamp the cake in your Petal Pink Class Stampin' Pad. Clean the stamp and then stamp in with VersaMark. Heat emboss it with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder. Fussy cut the cake out or use the die. Colour the leaves with Old Olive Blends Combo and the flowers with the Lovely Lipstick Blends Combo.

Attach the cake to the centre of the cake with Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamp Happy Birthday in Old Olive Class Stampin' Pad. Attach it to the bottom of the card. After colouring them with Dark Petal Pink Blends, apply the Rhinestones Basic Jewels.
