Seashore Stampers August Blog Hop

This month, The Seashore Stampers will be sharing organizational tips and photos of our craft rooms in our fabulous new blog hop. We decided to do it alphabetically. Unfortunately for me, “A” remains at the start of our alphabet. This means I will be the VERY FIRST Seashore Stamper to start our monthly blog hop. No pressure. For August, we're going to share pictures of our craft rooms or organizational tips. Since my craft room remains behind yellow caution tape, I cannot share any photos of it at this time. While it's not quite a crime scene, it is definitely a fire hazard. Having said that, there is no irony in me offering you organizational tips, none at all. Seriously though, I am actually a bit of an organizational fiend. I'm always looking for new ways to store things. When it comes to organizing your craft space, understand it may take a bit of trial and error to find what's just right. I am a very visual person and it's important to me to be able to see my craft supplies. This can prove to be a challenge when your space is limited. Most of my stuff is in an armoire. In the past, it has been a big dark place where things go to disappear. Today I'm going to discuss what I did to sort my embossing folders. Initially, I kept them in the plastic package they were shipped in. I quickly discovered squeezing them back in was too much work. So I found a shoe box, one just wide enough to file them vertically. I sorted them alphabetically, by their given name. Rather than writing their name directly onto the folders, which is an option, I chose to make index cards from the piece of paper that came with them (the one with the picture of the embossing folder on it.) I used a punch (Decorative Label) on a piece of lightly coloured scrap (Sahara Sand.) I cut the tag in half, vertically, wrote out the name of the folder, and used a piece of cello tape to attach my newly created tab to the back of the paper. I staggered the placement of the names which means I can find any particular embossing folder at a glance. And best of all, as long as you have a shoe box, some scraps and a suitable punch, the cost is essentially nothing. :)

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time a stamper decided she was going to create a blog. After all, it was the thing to do.  She, like so many others before her, had great intentions. However, her follow through was another matter all together. With the support of a group of her talented Stampin' friends (does that make it a support group) she decided to embark on this brave journey one more time. Hopefully this time she will be able to make regular and interesting entries.
