Blending Brushes

Hello my fabulous followers, lurkers and those who've just stopped by!

Today I'm so to show you how to use the fabulous Blending Brushes - do not be afraid! 

You'll need a Blending Brush, a Classic Stampin' Pad of your choice, biggish scraps of Basic White Cardstock, and a piece of scrap paper. 

We're only going to use ONE COLOUR. If you use more than one be careful with your scrap paper as you can drag other colours into your project. (Ask me how I know. This happened with my rainbow card and I had to redo it.)

Okay, let's get started.

I recommend starting with a paper about 1/4" bigger on both sides (so if you were wanting 4" x 5 1/4", start with 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). Now this is optional but you can wind up with really dark edges, which for some projects absolutely works but for others not so much. Experiment. Find out what look you like.

Use a LIGHT hand. Less is more. You can always add but you can't take away. Ready? Tap your brush lightly into the ink pad a few times, then tap it on your scrap. I do this with every colour to see how wet the pad is. Using light swirling motion. I'll also go from side to side as well. I always start on the scrap paper after touching the ink pad. The amount of time you'll have to do it depends on the actual colour, the depth of colour your trying to achieve and how wet the ink pad is. Don't start with a project. Try it on some scraps of your Basic White Cardstock first.

Do NOT ever wash your brush. You can clean it with a microfiber cloth or on a piece of scrap paper. If you're just starting out with the 3 brushes, use one for very light colours, one for medium colours and one for dark colours. If you've got 6 brushes, I would divide them into similar colour groups. So I'd have a brush for yellows/oranges, one for pinks/reds, one for blues/greens, etc.
