Birthday Cake

Hello all,

Welcome to my Wednesday Blog... a few hours late. This week I have been getting ready for a fabulous get together of Vancouver Island Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. There will be 51 of us attending. And me being me, I signed up for everything: the birthday swap (20 people); the Valentine's swap (11 people); the 3D swap (10 people) and a Make & Take (51 people). *gasp* That's right, 51 make & take kits. But it's all SO much fun.

This week I'm going to show you my birthday swap. Meet my Birthday Cake card.

Start with a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock. In landscape position, score at 4 1/2" on one side. This is kind of hard to explain but at the other end, score at 1" but only in 1".  Repeat this again, on the other side. Now you'll have two 1" score marks at that end. Turn the cardstock over at score 1" up from the original 1" score. So you're scoring at the 2" mark. Again, go in only 1" and repeat on the other side. Using the new Paper Trimmer, line up at cutting blade at the 4 1/2" score line. Cut in 1" from each side to the 1" score line, 1" from the end of the card.

Next, score across the centre panel/tab of the card, 1" from the 4 1/2" score. (The 1" edge, on each side, should not be scored, on the centre bit.)

Gently lift the centre tab up and away from the rest of the card. Moving down the tab, towards the bottom, fold the first two 1" score lines back/down and the next two 1" score lines forward/up.  Again, this is a bit challenging to explain. Hopefully the photos will help.

Fold the card down, completely flat and burnish the score lines.

Cut some Whisper White Cardstock to 4 1/8" x 7/8" and 3 3/4" x 3". Trim two pieces of the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper to 4 1/2" - 1/8" and 1" - 1/8" .

Using your Stamparatus, stamp the cake in your Petal Pink Class Stampin' Pad. Clean the stamp and then stamp in with VersaMark. Heat emboss it with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder. Fussy cut the cake out or use the die. Colour the leaves with Old Olive Blends Combo and the flowers with the Lovely Lipstick Blends Combo.

Attach the cake to the centre of the cake with Stampin' Dimensionals

Stamp Happy Birthday in Old Olive Class Stampin' Pad. Attach it to the bottom of the card. After colouring them with Dark Petal Pink Blends, apply the Rhinestones Basic Jewels.

Seashore Stampers Valentine's Blog Hop

Hello Fabulous Blog Hoppers, Happy New Year! Gong hei fat choy! It's now the Year of the Rat and since I'm a rat, this little one will be coming with me on all my adventures so expect to see more of them in future blogs and my Facebook & Instagram posts.

Welcome to our January Blog Hop. This month we're celebrating all things Valentine. Red, white and love is all around.

https://s.tamp.in/-saATh

Since my kiddo is grown and gone, I normally don't do much in the way of Valentine's. However, this year I decided to mix things up. I sent a few cards of to Canadian Soldiers, serving abroad. And agreed to sell my wares at the Victoria Public Market. So if you're looking for a special card or a cute little box of treats, come on down! I'll be there Saturday, Feb 8th, Thursday, Feb 13 and Friday Feb 14th.

This cute card features the new host Sale-A-Bration set Little Ladybug and the greeting comes from the new Heartfelt set. Ask me how you can earn the Little Ladybug's today!

To create this card, trim a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 4 3/4" x 3 1/2". Your Basic Black Cardstock should be 4 7/8" x 3 5/8". The Real Red Cardstock card base is 11" x 4 1/4", scored at the 5 1/2" mark.

I used Real Red, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake and Basic Black Stampin' Blends Marker Combo Packs to colour the Ladybugs. Their wings were coloured with the dark red and their shells the light red. Their wing dots & heads were dark black and their hands & feet light black. The bodies were done in Crumb Cake and the faces in Petal Pink. The flower and the pearls were coloured with the Dark Pineapple Punch Blends.

The little heart comes from the Dog Builder Punch.

Birthday Wonders

Hello fabulous followers, talented paper crafters and my beloved lurkers,

This week's card was the 6th card I created yesterday for my upcoming Birthday Bash Buffet. Card buffets are about quantity so the designs cannot be too complex. All the preparation is done. If something needs embossing or cutting, where possible, I've already done it. Each card can be completed in about 3 minutes. The card I'm featuring in today's blog is a #simplestamping card, meaning no special equipment is need (just stamp, ink & paper - and some jewels.)

This card was creating with the New Wonders stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. It uses Pacific Point and Whisper White Cardstocks.

Trim a piece of Pacific Point to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" (score at 4 1/4") and one at 3 1/8" x 4 3/8". For the Whisper White you'll need a 4" x 5 1/4" and 3" x 4 1/4".

On a piece of scrap paper, stamp the leaf around the  outside 3/4" of the larger piece of Whisper White. Tip: Stamp over the edge of your Whisper White onto the scrap paper for partial images. Since I'm doing this card for a class, I put all 3 stamps on one block. Everything was stamped in the Pacific Point Classic Stampin' Pad. To finish the card off I added 3 Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Thank You and You and You!

Hello Fabulous Followers,

This week's blog features a pile of quick and easy thank you cards. 25 of them! These were part of a larger custom order. My client plans to use these cards to thank his customers for their Christmas presents. (He's obviously doing a REALLY good job!)

Even if you don't like the gift, a Thank You card sends such a nice message, showing appreciation and gratitude. It only takes a few minutes and can have a profound effect.

Each card is 3" x 3", so the Whisper White Cardstock measures 3" x 6" and is scored at the 3" mark. I used a retired Designer Series Paper (DSP) called, Happiness Blooms but any DSP would work. The DSP was cut into 2 3/4" squares. The thank you greetings from the following stamp sets: Abstract Impressions, Butterfly Gala, Daisy Delight and Flourishing Phrases. With the exception of the ones punched out with the Tailored Tag punch, the greetings were trimmed with my Paper Trimmer. The only adhesive used was Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The ink colours were: Calypso Coral, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Night of Navy. With 4 greetings and 4 ink colours, no two cards were the same.

Sale-A-Bration is Here!

Hello fabulous followers,

Meet my first card of the new year. This was created for an upcoming demonstrator member meeting. One of my demo friends is hosting a pizza and card night tonight. Each demonstrator will bring everything needed for everyone to make her card. Since 18 of us are attending, this means everyone leaves with 18 cards they made, 17 designed by others. This is a fabulous way to get new ideas and see what others are doing. (And it often leads me to buying stamp sets I don't already have.)

I chose to use the Tropical Oasis Suite. While this set has dies, I only used one of them because of the time involved. This is also why I chose not to do any heat embossing or colouring. Everyone has to make 18 cards in about 4 hours. I did ALL the prep work so my friends only have to stamp and assemble. I made my card in landscape but designed it to also be done in portrait as well.

Start with an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of Grapefruit Grove Cardstock. Score it at 4 1/4" and fold it in half. Stamp your hibiscus and leaf stamp, with Grapefruit Grove Classic Stampin' Pad. Tip: Using a piece of scrap paper under your cardstock, stamp over the edge of the cardstock to give a more natural look. Trim a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock to 4" x 2 3/4" and a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 1/8" in bigger on both sides. Emboss with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. Since I misplaced mine, I used Subtle 3D instead. Attach the Night of Navy to the Whisper White using your Multipurpose Liquid Glue. With your Snail or Multipurpose Liquid Glue attach this to the card front.

On a scrap of Whisper White, stamp your greeting with the Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad. Punch it out with the Tailored Tag punch. Attach it to the centre of the Night of Navy with Stampin' Dimensionals. Colour a Pearl Basic Jewels with a coordinating Blends. Since we don't have Grapefruit Grove, I used Light Calypso Coral Blends. Apply the pearl to the bottom of the greeting tag. Using the little flower die, cut out a set from Grapefruit Grove. (This one die cuts out 3 adorable flowers!) I attached them using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
