Seashore Stampers - February Blog - Something Green

Hello Wonderful Stampers,

Welcome to the Seashore Stampers February Blog. Since St Patrick's Day is just around the corner, our theme this month is something green (or a St Patrick's Day card). I opted for something green.

Since I often mix and match my supplies, I decided to create a card using only one suite. With an unusually, weirdly, ridiculously, cold and SNOWY month, my thoughts were drifting to warmer climes. Just about everything you need to make this card comes from the fabulous Tropical Escape Suite. You can find them on pages 120-121 of your Annual Catalogue.

To start, use Granny Apple Green for the standard base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2"). Your second layer, measuring 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", is cut from Shaded Spruce. The third layer is cut from the Topical Escape Designer Series Paper (DSP) and measures 4" x 5 1/4". (Don't assemble just yet.) Score the Granny Apply Green base at 4 1/4" and fold the card in half, using your bone folder.

Now you get to play with the Tropical Thinlits! Trim the piece for the leafy window, in Granny Apple Green, to measure 3 1/4" x 4 1/2". When placing the die onto the paper, leave about a 3/8" border at the top and sides. The lovely fern leaves are cut from the Shaded Spruce. (Pro-tip: to save paper, cut them out from the middle of that 2nd layer of Shaded Spruce.) Stamp the flower in Granny Apple Green, on a scrap of Whisper White, before using the coordinating die to cut it out.

In order to provided some contrast, stamp greeting in Shaded Spruce, on another scrap of Whisper White, and punch it out with the versatile Tailored Tag punch. Trim down one of the scraps of the DSP to 3 1/4" x 3/4". Cut about a 4" piece from the Granny Apply Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon.

For the assembly, use your Snail to adhere the DSP to the Shaded Spruce, and the Shaded Spruce to the Granny Apply Green Base. Using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, attach the ferns to the left side of the leafy window, about 3/4" from the bottom. Next, using your Snail, attach the scrap of DSP to the leafy window, about 3/8" from the bottom. Wrap the ribbon over the DSP, using cello tape on the back, to hold the ends down. Use Dimensionals to attach the greeting & flower to the ribbon and to attach the assembled leafy window to the card. (Pro-tip: this is a perfect way to use up a bunch of those Dimensional edge-borders one has left after using your Dimensionals.) Finally, adhere three Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins (in the pale greenish colour) which will add some flourish to the card.
